Answers from practice

As a parish, are we not under church data law instead of GDPR?
Correct — Catholic parishes fall under KDG, Protestant ones under DSG-EKD. Both closely mirror the GDPR and set comparable requirements for processors: EU hosting, confidentiality, a DPA. Questee hosts in Germany and provides the data processing agreement. Final approval rests, as always, with the data protection officer of your diocese or regional church.
Do parents still need to come in person?
Not for data intake — that runs fully online. The baptism conversation with the pastor naturally stays in person. The difference: at that meeting all data and documents are already on file, instead of it becoming a data entry session.
How does the data get into our church register software?
Via CSV export or copy-paste from the clean response view. There is no direct interface to programs like Kaplan or e-mip — but taking over structured, typed data is many times faster and less error-prone than deciphering handwritten notes.
What about godparents from another parish?
The form asks each godparent for their home parish. If the godparent does not belong to your parish, it automatically shows the certificate notice — including an upload field. Parents know from the first moment what they need to obtain.
Our parish website is static — does this still work?
Yes. The form runs on its own Questee address — you only need a link or QR code. That fits any static website, the parish newsletter, the notice board or the WhatsApp group. Alternatively the form can be embedded via iframe if your website allows it.
Can we also use this for weddings, confirmation or first communion?
